I believe it is entirely possible to dismiss unwanted thoughts. It does take practice, however, as the mind tends to return to the same thoughts sometimes. However, with determination it can be done.

If you prefer something like a spell or prayer, I've recently run across something very interesting in Marcus Aurelius' work, Meditations. It's about Stoicism, but it touches on many spiritual beliefs common in his time (at least on some of his own beliefs):

Eudaimonia (Happiness) is a good daimon, or a good thing. What then are you doing here, O imagination? Go back to wherever you came from, I entreat you by the gods, for I do not want you. But you have come according to your old fashion. I am not angry with you: go away.

Think of Eudaimonia as the personification of Happiness itself. It's not the name of an actual spirit, but many things were called spirits to give perspective to, such as this case, emotions. In a way, this is evoking or invoking the emotion Happiness as its own entity, to replace the unwanted thoughts.

O imagination is directly addressing the unwanted thought.

It is not the one and only way, of course. It is also applicable to simply reject a thought, and redirect your mind elsewhere.

You unfortunately can't just stop feeling [and trust me, feeling nothing isn't fun] you could try a stop gossip spell or a cutting the chord ritual to end what friendship/emotional ties you have left for the person, but you can't say a few words and be void of feeling towards the person. You could also try writing a letter to them and burning it, thus getting closure and releasing the lingering feeling you have for the person.

It helps to distract the mind by doing something else. Keeping busy works wonders, watching TV, being on the internet, doing anything passive is not keeping busy. I mean cooking, cleaning, writing, drawing, painting etc.

I would also try to find a way to break the chain of thoughts your brain will bombard you with, a good way of doing this is clapping loudly three times. Shouting stop. Obviously you will look odd in public doing this. One technique I learned from a hypnotherapist was to imagine a stop sign in the mind each time a thought you didn't want to dwell on entered the mind, focus all the mental capacities on visualising the stop sign so the thought has little energy to draw from and then distract yourself by carrying on with the task at hand or doing something.

Time is the best healer.

There is a couple songs i listen to, that helps me with distraction. Have you ever tried a method called "triangle breathing" Or "square breathing."? When a bad thought or feeling comes up, practice one of those. (I apologize if this was a late post.)

There are a couple things you can do.

A) cutting cords - When you are with someone romantically, you are linked to them energetically as well as emotionally and physically. When you separate you might find it hard to forget them because the energetic link is still there
So what you cand do is to cut this energetic link, there are specific spells that are categorized as cord cutting (some include physically cutting cords and some knot magic, look it up). It can be really helpful for situations like this.

B) Healing - A heartbreak is a spiritual (as well as physical) ailment, undoubtedly. You can look up for healing spells, most of them will include removing negative energy.

C) Cutting all ties in the physical world - if you want to be completely free of his influence, spiritually and physically, you should make no contact with him and avoid checking him out on social media and on mutual friend groups. He doesn't exist to you anymore. It will make it a lot easier for you to set yourself free from you.

I wasn't with this person romantically. I just felt a close friendship for her. That was all that was happening. Just thought I clear that up. Thank you for the advice and the support.

Can I recommend something radical? I would suggest not trying to get rid of the feelings. Every single thing is a lesson to learn to progress forward on our path. Instead consider why this person hurt you! This effort helps to be that person, as it were, and try to understand what made them do it, not to you, but to their own life. Also, if you have missed what you were supposed to learn to progress, you may not have a choice about the feelings until you can see. Just a thought.

I know many people have answered you but I'm in a very similar situation right now. I had a best friend who I really loved. She might even be reading this, if she looks in my site history. But when we stopped being friends, i realized she had hurt me more than i knew, and i needed to move on. I loked for spells and hexes to help me but I realized soon enough, sometimes its better to just slowly let your mind forget about them, you'll think about them often, but remember, time will heal, and you'll meet many people who will help you grow and be happy. Just know that you'll be okay. You can always come to me if u need to talk.
