Coven inactivity
By:

I've noticed that a lot of covens have fallen inactive, the members have left, and the High Priests and Priestesses rarely come online. Is this a cyclical thing that I've missed over the years or just a problem that's been getting worse over time?

Is it a problem? Yes, but only because a lot of us want to experience life and want to experience earth. If we spend every-hour online are we really experiencing life? A lot of covens aren't like " get online, be active or else! " because covens know real-life comes first and wanting to experience life also comes first.

We all have a life outside of SoM and some just want to focus on that life and experience that life rather than wanting to be online every second. Don't get me wrong it's still amazing to come online and help people, guide people, and share knowledge to those who don't have access to it in the real life but we can't forget our selves. And over-time the more we notice that time flies by a nick of an eye the more time we want to experience life.

(hopefully that semi-answers your question)

Of course its an issue. But its not entirely the leader's faults nor the members. Its a mix of both and as Vozel said a lot of us have daily lives to attend to. Sometimes those are a bit more important than this website and it gets in the way of activity.

A correction, if I might, Voz, most covens actually do require activity or members that can be active at least once or twice a week. It's a necessity for the production and growth of the coven itself to have active members, including their leadership. However that is a problem in and of itself. If members refuse to be active even if they're online everyday, its not the covens fault.

Yalda, it comes and goes. As does everything in life, interests and activity come and go so hopefully the activity boosts back up again.

I agree, it's a cyclical thing that has progressively gotten worse.

I think a lot of it has to do with the quality of content being shared. It helps when people's interests are piqued.

I only speak for myself in that there is a certain level of anxiety and the need to be as authentic and informative as possible when writing a thread. I do not wish to perpetuate any misinformation. I intend to change this by starting somewhere, and hopefully we can all inspire others to come out of the wood work as well.

There are many aspiring practitioners lately who seem to genuinely seek guidance. A coven is an excellent place for them to connect with, and be inspired by others who are well on their journey. Informative threads in the public forum begin to give an idea of what everyone is all about and can inspire the newcomers as well.

There is still a good number of home-like groups here to choose from that are fairly active!

Personally I like to be part of an active coven. I left my previous coven for that reason, one of its leaders had not logged in for years. There were plenty of other people that did not log in for a long time as well. The posts were far and few between and I was not getting out of the coven what I wanted. When I saw an ad for my current coven I joined and am starting to get what I want out of the coven.

Some covens want more active memberships. My desire is to build more connections with people online in the realm of witch craft. Its' hard when people are not active online or don't give you something to roll with as conversation goes. We all come and go I know, and some people have busier lives outside of being online. I admit if I didn't live alone I would not be on my computer so much.
