What was it again?

I remember reading somewhere that once, Odin had to choose between two warriors, and he chose the more gentle one instead of the more aggressive one. I think those warriors were brothers too?
I tried looking it up, but my search didn't give me results.
Is there a myth like that? If so, what is its name? Could you maybe provide me with a link as well? Or was this perhaps just made up?
Thank you in advance.

That particular myth doesn't spring to mind, though it does sound plausible and likely. Check out the eddasif you can.

Sounds rather like the plot of the "Thor" movies.

I am familiar with a story like this only in reverse. Odin and Frigg fostered two brothers for a time. Odin chose the stronger more head strong brother. Frigg chose the softer kinder brother. The boys were returned to the land of their father. On the way, the older brother threw the oars overboard and swam to shore leaving his younger brother in the boat. He became the leader after his father passed. Upon hearing exploits of his choosen mortal, Odin went to visit in disguise. He found the man to be cruel, friendly with brigands and lacking in hospitality. For this the man paid dearly. His brother who was a servant in the house was rewarded with all that Odin had bestowed upon the elder.
