I've been looking around at spells and I've seen a lot of "by the power of three" what does it mean?

It could be a reference to physical, mental, spiritual power.
It could be a reference to maiden, mother, crone.
It could be a reference to the television show Charmed.

Three is a magick number. It refers to the thrinity; maiden mother and crime, land sea and sky, etc. it is used commonly in magick and witchcraft, but an even more powerful number is nine (three times three)
