Craft Name number

Hello everyone! I have found out about my path number and I know if your craft name matches your path number, than this could be your craft name. Example: **If your birthday was September 1, 1966, you would start with the numbers 911966 = 9 + 1 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 6 = 32. Because September is the 9th month, you'd use 9, because 1 is already a single digit number you'd use 1, if you were born on the 23, you would have to do 2+3 which equals 5. Which also happens to be the path number of someone with the above birthday. However, I'm confused on how I assign the numbers to the letters. Is it randomly done? Do I assign the numbers by order? Can someone explain this? Thanks!
