Hey! I'm a little late to this thread but I have some tips for getting to know tarot better :>

First I want to suggest getting to know the court cards (or whatever equivalent to that your deck has). It can help a lot of get ot know them, the faces, and like Pythia said reflect on what the imagery means to you.

I also find that I connect to certain cards more than others, I've picked up the word significator for whenever I find one of those cards in a reading. Personally I have more than one. It's kind of like giving your deck a way to communicate better with you and get to know you.

Second, bringing your deck around with you or keeping it under your pillow while you sleep can help build a personal connection, that's pretty basic advice for almost any object, but I like to think my tarot deck can feel how I feel throughout the day, and so when I do readings it will know better how to respond.

Third, try and talk to people who also have tarot decks, do readings for eachother and talk about what you like about your deck with them. There's a lot of places online where you can find people who practice tarot who would probably love to talk about it with you. Or even friends/family members who might find it interesting.

I suggest reading Undersatnding The Tarot Court, it helped me start to build my own way to interpreting my cards. This is a link to buying it on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Tarot-Court-Special-Topics/dp/0738702862

I found it in pdf form for free at some point, but it's always great to support by buying if you can.

I really hope everything is working out good for you and your deck!

I have around 4 Tarot Decks in my office, I absolutely love them! They're a part of both my physical work and my magickal practice.

Here's a couple of tips:

If you plan on doing readings for others face to face, keep a cup filled with water, salt and a garlic that's been bitten by you . The worse part is bitting the garlic really haha.

This will absorb all the negativity and bad energies from the other person so they will not go to you or in to your cards! After that you can and should keep the cards near the cup, so they're always ready to be used.

As it's been said, and I feel it's important to make that sink in, spend time with your cards!

I spend a lot of time with my cards, sometimes even talk to them! Thanking them for being a part of me, for helping me and always being avaiable.
After all, they are a big part of you from the moment you connect to them! So spending time with them will reinforce that connection, making it like steel!

I can't wait to see you grow with your cards and soon enough reading them like a pro!
