Have to agree, this is rather vague so we can't help too much. You cast a freezer spell. A freezer spell for what exactly? Did you charge energy, focus, ground, cast a circle? When did you cast it? What moon phase? Did you repeat your casting? How many nights in a row? Did you doubt yourself? There are many factors.
Regarding the family thing, not everyone gets along all the time, and sometimes in-laws hate each other. If there's tension like this you need to hope your relationship is strong enough to withstand it. I'm not saying you should make him cut his family out, but you should all sit down and talk, or try and limit contact with them to keep the peace. Try talking with him one on one or with a councillor to try and work through things. If he wishes to break up, sad as it is, you should respect his wishes. You may love him, but it mitt be for the best, especially if people are fighting a lot. One day you might rekindle your relationship, or find someone better. Life is uncertain, it can be painful, but it can also be amazing.
