So if it doesn't matter if you have the right ingredients as long as you believe the spell will work, would that support the idea that spell casting is just a ritual to tap into the power of the mind?
I'm exploring philosophies on chaos magick and trying to understand the deeper workings and mechanics of magick.
I know this is an old thread but I wanted to express my thanks to you for taking the time to write it. I've never cast a spell before but I'm very interested. I'm also very cautious because I know things can also go wrong--either nothing happens, the spell backfires or I've even heard of people conjuring up trouble they never expected. Nevertheless, I thank you Starrie, for posting this valuable information.

im realy new to spell casting but im extremly interested and im not exactly sure what spells arelegit and which ones are just little kids typing in tons of stupid stuff is there any advice on what i should start with and how or who could give me some in depth training
