Frankincense

i have ritual i want to use and it calls for frankincense to be burned in an incense burner, but i only have it in big chunks. should i grind it into powder and burn it, or is there another way to do it? i usually buy my incense and have never once looked into making them.

Frankincense will not burn by itself. It needs a "catalyst" such as charcoal.It will then certainly smoulder in chunks! I use it everyday; sometimes "raw", sometimes in cones.

You should be able to buy charcoal, as little pads. Circular pads.
At a magic shop or perhaps a herbalists. These pads fit perfectly into a censor. You light them, and then sprinkle the herb, or incense, on to the charcoal.
