Demons aren't all evil, but when doing any work with spirits, especially demons, its important to have protection. Darkness is inheriently selfish and tends to attract more dark spirits so even if you can make a friendly deal with one a hostile one could sneak in just as easy to stay. I've had peacful arrangments with demons, but more often I've seen them spiritually and mentally attack myself and others.
And concerning guardian, or personal, demons, they usually appear in psychic families to children mostly, to either obstruct psychic progress or to recruit. They're generally low on the ladder and typically have no physical manifestations.

I'm not even going to bother replying in answer to that as I have replied the same answer hundreds of times. Only use protection if you think you need it

Thanks for posting this(: I was browsing profiles and came across yours and saw the link in your bio. It's really helpful. My friend and I have been very interested in learning about Demonology but could never find anyone who actually knew what they were talking about lolz.

Its a tricky subject to learn in anyway other than experiance. They're like any spirit in that they can be very complex and can want or do many things. If its a modest interest, talking with thosebwith experiance will suffice but if you really want to learn everything about them its best to learn directly from them.

Yeah that's what I was inching towards. I just wanted to know background basics and things before I actually dive into anything, ya know?

Experiance is the most vital key to knowledge, especially as when talking with others, where they might be right in some areas, they may be wrong in others, and being able to differentiate this is hard because a common logical fallacy is if we know a source to be correct on one thing, there's a good chance most of the information is true.
The only problem with I see in this thread is the confusion in the terminology of the word "demon".

While the etymology of the word is correct, calling it a corruption of the concept is a leap and quite wrong. For one, daemon is merely the word it is comes from, the new word demon can actually be traced to Roman popular culture and was used later in the hebrew bible to distinguish between the two concepts, not to corrupt the idea. As well, saying demons are daemons is like saying the devils that christianity basterdized were once or actually are gods. What I mean here is that this is mistaking origins and propaganda, in that idols like Lilith were once worshiped and then name called. Here, though, you imply that because the term is means a bad spirit that they must have just been literally demonizing daemons of old.

To clarify the "idol" example, I mean they were only idols that were demonized, they aren't actual devils, it was propaganda for the church. Supposed worship of them started after people were tortured into saying they had worshiped them as devils in the inquisitions.

I realize similar points may have been made earlier now, I was posting on my phone earlier and haven't read the whole thread, though the confusion of the terminology still stands. The word demon is meant to specifically refer to a being of darkness, though not always evil.
In order to understand them you must understand their energy and being. Darkness it's self is not evil, only those influenced by it without enough will. Being evil comes easy to them due to the nature of dark energy which is to consume and take for one's self, hence "evil." However there are a number of demons that have risen above this influence and can use it for good. For instance they are very effective for ridding of one's own dark or unwanted energy or help the flow of one's energy and can accelerate spiritual and psychic growth. The amount of demons who have risen is as unknown as the number of angels who fall, and while assuming one's alignment is wrong, when ever doing any sort of practice involving spirits there is always an inherent risk that what you've summoned is or came with something bad, which is why any form of protection and a good deal of experience is always good to have.

But they are not "dark". They are only said to be do that people stay away from them. How about you contact some of them and find out? I have never picked up the slightest bit of "dark energy" from one of them. In religions before the Christian Church they were the "good guys". All the Egyptian and Olympian (Greek) gods are them, as with the Aztec gods and Babylon gods. They aren't the slightest bit "evil" or "dark". Some if them are not found of humans, but this doesn't make them "evil" does it? I am not found of people that think theybknow everything, does that make me "evil"? Last time I checked, no. Very few dis like humans anyway.

If any of you have questions about this I'm more than happy to answer them. But please ask someone that has experiences with them, and knows what you really need to do. Not someone who comments on this topic to attempt to show how clever he/she is. The people that I know are trust worthy are the ones thar do not comment on this, but laugh at some of the rubbish that has been commented onto here by people trying to be smart. I know that I may be making some people dis-like me, but it needed to be said.
