I have a birthmark shaped like the Sigil of Ameth.

My melanin = the magic. And I find it ironic because John Dee is grandpappy.

Alright, so none of that is true. But I think it clearly illustrates the absurdity of reading too much into anything.

Melanin is the pigment that causes skin colouring. It is what freckles are; and what causes "liver spots" in elderly people. (My hands are covered with these spots)

Not everything has to be 'politically correct' to the T. Birth Marks are what people call those marks on your skin that you from the time you're born they're not saying it's particularly a scar of any sort or it doesn't even have to magick related they're simply given the name Birth Marks.

I have one on the back of my neck in the shape of...of well a smudge slightly lighter than the rest of my skin I don't believe it means anything special but I do kind of like its location. :P

I believe that whether you call them birth marks or skin defects they all have some purpose and were not put there by any chance. Everything happens for a reason, some of those reasons are beyond the grasp of a doctors knowledge so we turn to various beliefs to help us understand the reason. This is in no means negative or rejecting any beliefs.
