J. K. Rowling is actually a slightly talented author, just she writes fiction and some people have trouble recognizing that. I like her books as entertainment but not instruction.

Yep. Movies like Harry Potter, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, etc are all pretty cool. Even though they're all fake. And they really do inspire people to learn magick, even though some of them kinda chicken out because of all the "magick is devil worship" rumors.

I'm an artist. I'm not a true pagan. I'm a spiritualistic artist. I consider the creation of art more magical than any ritual may concoct.
Personally I think that Art and expression comes before reality.
Can you really say it's fake? Just because it seems implausible? We are more complex organisms than we realize. As you know we can only access 10 percent of our brains. So how will be when we can access more? Could we be have those abilities? Implausible yes? Impossible no?
When you break it down it's just art. Take it how you will.

Of course Art is magical! It is creative! Exactly what magic is!

I agree with Raven. It gives people a stepping stone for learning visualization. A base. I do like to watch some Harry Potter movies, but for me it is more about the family time. I like to spend time with my family and one of the ways is through the movies. I think I wanted to learn more about magic after I saw The Craft and Practical Magic . I knew most of it was fake but that made me want to learn the truth about it.

Oh, oh.
How nicely I want to answer... But hey, now I have to be rudeish.
YO MAN. Why this subject? That's just your way to manipulate people to enter this thread.
Yes, yes -you don't have to answer- well guess what I want to, but this just makes the site messy, and... It's not good. Couldn't you just put a nice subject? Something that says what's this about?
Anyways, I like books and movies about magic. It all was my reason to believe in magick, but I actually like the actual magick, the way it is, better. You don't have demons, evil thingies and stuff that can kill you with a LOOK, yes you have evil people and magicians, but... It's not as dangerous and you still get to live a real life.
The ones who believe in magick as it's shown in media, are just foolish, and no, they aren't fluffy witches, just their brains are fluffy!
By the way, Harry Potter has nothing to do with Wicca and it's obviously FAKE in any normal person's eyes.

Luna, he was just asking about what do we feel about magic in pop culture. No need to get upset. : )

Not upset, rather annoyed.
It is a bit annoying when someone doesn't even post a nice subject. :)

@IsaacYes, the spells they cast are fake.

Harry Potter is half good and bad for the MC, obviously it attracts fluffs, fake spells, etc. But it could actually motivate people to start learning magick the proper way, which I am sure some people said above.

Thats just my opinion. :)
