Good info..note that this is the clan traditions, and not necessarily the Sioux, as a whole nation. Also, this is the tribal religious practice, not the mystic's.

Just clarifying a bit..hope you don't mind.

White Buffalo Calf Woman once came to Earth and to the Lakota people, she gave a Sacred Pipe and a small round stone.

The stone had Seven Circles on it, representing Seven Rites.


When the Lakota smoke from the sacred pipe, their voice is sent to the Great Spirit.
In every Rite they smoke of this pipe.
