Lakota Beliefs

There are seven rites that the Lakota do:
1. Nagi Gluhapi - Keeping of the Soul

2. Inipi - Rite of Purification

3. Hanblecheyapi - Crying for a vision

4. Wiwanyag Wachipi - The Sun Dance

5. Hunkapi - Making of Relatives

6. Ishna Ta Awi Cha Lowan - Preparing a girl for Womanhood

7. Tapa Wanka Yap - Throwing of the Ball

I will be going into more detail of these later.

The traditional belief of the Lakota is of The Great Spirit, synonyms for this are The Great Grandfather and the Great Grandmother.

Possibly the most famous Lakota chief is on my profile picture, his name is Sitting Bull. I'd recommend doing some research on him, though he will not be discussed in this lesson.

Good info..note that this is the clan traditions, and not necessarily the Sioux, as a whole nation. Also, this is the tribal religious practice, not the mystic's.

Just clarifying a bit..hope you don't mind.
