Unlike what most have come to believe, the word "Abracadabra" is more than just a phrase used by stage magicians when they pull a rabbit out of a top hat. The word is actually a "word of power" that was used in ancient times as a way of wording off an illness. The word would be said by the ill individual, each time dropping the last letter of the word. If the individual was to ill to say the chant then a relative or a close friend would do it for them. The patient also wore a piece of paper, tied around their neck with flax, that also had the word written on it in diminishing order. The chant was to be repeated every day for nine days and then the parchment on which the words were written were to be thrown over one's left shoulder into an eastern flowing stream or river. The idea was that as the paper washed away so to would the illness leave the victim of it. Below I have listed the word as it is said and written on the paper that is to be tied around the individuals neck.

Thank you sweetie. I like to expand my knowledge of magic as much as I can. I tend to try to read up on just about everything related to it, or at least everything that I can get my hands on -lol-. It never hurts to mix the old ways and knowledge with the new. ;)

Blessed Be and Brightest Blessings,

Kat
