Of course, Florrie, more lessons will be posted. I just have to write them out. Rather then flood the coven with a swarm of lessons, I'll be posting one lesson every two or three days. So far every time I have flooded the coven with lessons most of them go unread because it's to much to read at one time. By the time the reader has time to read all the lessons most of them are pushed to the back. I can post an outline though, something of a guide for the lessons I'll be posting. It's just a rough outline, but I'll have it up within a few hours.

Horus, did you read the rest of that paragraph?

"In actuality, neither light nor darkness should represent good nor evil and shadows, likewise, should not be involved with such metaphors. Why? Because everything good/evil related is based entirely on perspective, unlike light or darkness where you can not deny being unable to see either from extreme light or pure darkness."

I'm not sure I understand what you think I meant.

Oh, no, that is the common metaphoric stereotype, but I disagree with it entirely. The darkness is much more comforting to me, but I strive to do what I believe is good and right. If the metaphor were correct then I probably would not prefer the darkness and the light wouldn't hurt my eyes so much. Unless I am truly evil at heart, but I seriously doubt that.

Balancing Shadow Energy

There are multiple ways to do this, and perhaps doing all of them would be the best way. One is the meditation mentioned in the previous lesson. Another is to turn a room into a shadow room. If you are extremely dedicated, turning your house into a shadow house would also be very beneficial, but remember not to lose balance with the elements. Another, more difficult method is to use a crystal. Balance with shadow energy requires balance between light and darkness. Spend your days in the light and spends your nights in darkness, or if you are nocturnal like I am then spend your nights in light and your days in darkness. In this way you are like a shadow, relying and dwelling in light and in darkness.

Shadow Meditation
The shadow meditation was mentioned in the previous lesson. In case that lesson for any reason can not be found, here it is again.

1) Sit comfortably in a shadowed area, anywhere you like.
2) Close your eyes and relax, let all your worries and fears go.
3) Visualize(sense/see) the shadows wrapping around you, forming something like a blanket.
4) Visualize(feel) the shadows softly forming a cocoon around you.
5) Visualize(sense/feel) the shadows entering you and filling you with their energy.

Shadow Room/House

A shadow room can be made two ways that I know of. A shadow house is just a house in which every room, or practically every room, is a shadow room. One way is to set it up so that there are a lot of shadows; set a bunch of items in window seals, both resting on the bottom and hanging from the top as well as attached to the sides if you can. The other way is to drape a thin black(or gray, if you find one that looks nice) curtain over the window so that the entire room is shaded.

Using a Crystal

The method that involves a crystal is difficult because crystals normally do not naturally use shadow energy. So this method requires you know how to communicate with at least one crystal that you have bonded with and that the crystal you have bonded with accepts your request. With those two requirements met, all you have to do is ask the crystal to attract shadow energy to you and balance shadow energies within you. If the crystal agrees to do that, you just have to keep the crystal with you and be very grateful.

Keep in mind that crystals are alive and are not toys nor tools. They deserve respect, kindness, and consideration. Being what they are, they hold more age and more wisdom then humans do. As such they deserve respect all the more.

Shadow Manipulation

Shadows are very flexible. Visualizing how they shape themselves and shift to your will can be done a number of ways. You can visualize etheric hands stretching out to shape the shadows like clay, objects moving to create shadows as you want it to, or as I do simply visualize the shadows moving according to your command.

Some simple practices with this include visualizing shadows forming a shield around you or a loved one, forming various shapes just for fun, and/or disappearing completely. Like any other visualization exercise, what you do is up to you. The only important thing is that your focus be shadow energy.

Aside from shielding, shadows can be used for healing, divination, servitors, and even attacking. I'll explain the basic concept of each, but the actual lessons will be posted in other threads.

Shielding, which will be your next lesson, is simply visualizing the energy surrounding you like a bubble. There are other methods I will explain in the lesson. The affect of this shield is to dampen any attack that is chaos based or otherwise attempting to throw off any type of balance. If it doesn't dampen the attack, it will block it completely.

In healing the goal is to send shadow energy into a target while programmed to repair damage, relieve pain, but most of all to give balance back to your target when an imbalance has formed. This includes balancing the chakras.

In divination the main form I am aware of is tarot. All that is would be shadow energy placed within the tarot cards. Other forms do include scrying, but I am less familiar with them.

Servitors with shadow energy are generally not meant to be overly active, really. Their main purpose is often to ensure balance is kept in a certain place. They can be created for healing you or friends, keeping individual connected to universal energy, maintaining chakras and/or shields.

Attacking is quite the opposite of the previously mentioned positive affects. Rather then keep balance, shadow energy can be used to destroy it. A shadow attack's main goal would be to target the chakras and either clog them or close them off entirely.

Shadow Shielding

The Manipulation
Manipulating shadow energy has already been explained, but for this lesson I'll give a quick summary of what you can do to manipulate shadows into a shield. First, locate the shadows around you. Second, see and feel them moving to and around you. Third, know that they have formed the shield. Finally, just accept the fact that it is in place. You can also create a servitor to maintain it for you, that will be explained two lessons from this one.

Visualization
This is just to explain the senses used; feeling, hearing, tasting, seeing, and smelling your shadow shield. It should feel warm, a balance between hot and cold. It should smell scentless, but if you wish you may give it a scent that you like(I smell it as cherry blossoms). It shouldn't have a taste either, unless you also wish to give it one. It should sound like silence, but you can also give it a vibrational pulse if you'd like. And of course it should look grey, a balance between light and dark. Use all your senses and form the shield around you, solid yet crystalline(see-through). Know that by having the shield there you are safe.

Affect
A shadow based shield will protect you from anything meant to offset any balance or uses a chaos(or chaos subtype) based energy. You may have to spend some energy maintaining it, but that is what servitors are for.

Other Methods
Aside from the bubble shield you can visualize a skin tight outfit covering your entire body, a mirrored lifeform that changes shape as necessary to reflect the attacks back to where they came from, a pyramid, a cube, a dome(most popular for shielding an area or group rather then an individual), or just about anything you can think of. With each form there may be different affects, such as if it is deflective a pyramid would like send most attacks that are sent horizontally at an upward angle or a cube may send any that aren't sent in a straight line at the surface to an otherwise horizontal angle. It's really all according to how you choose to visualize your shield.

A Note on Servitors
Due to a couple complaints I'm going to add here as well as in the servitor lesson, when using a servitor to maintain your shield try to make sure the servitor is on the inside of the shield. That way they are protected as well.
