Where in this thread are pagans described as "rebel-ultra-cool-they-can't-touch-us-and-angry-at-the-world" people? That sounds more like stereotypical gothic, to me.

About the Halloween thing, actually those people are taken seriously by the other people who dress as if it's Halloween. I just think they're all funny. I admit I dress that way as well sometimes and I usually try to be funny when I do, but that isn't very often anymore. I guess I kinda grew out of it.

For that question, I don't really know. Or I should say I don't know what style of dress might be called "witchly" without following Hollywood's wardrobe.

Furs are cool. Unnecessary with modern day technology, but still cool. Deadly too, if you wear one around those ignorant environmentalist extremists.

"I believe some members here need to grow up."
I believe this is the first time I have quoted a sentence from you, Dzen, that I agree with fully. Although I disagree that this had to be said here as I don't see anyone in this particular thread acting overly immature. Still, we do get allot of immature members on this site.

I can understand dressing to not stand out too much in certain situations. Most companies have dress codes for their workers so that they can keep a certain air about the company and make everyone feel comfortable. As for being in public that is your choice. I don't feel in most places like I stick out with my hippie appearance but that is because I am comfortable with myself to not care if people are staring. I wear my "church" clothes as well sometime in public and feel the same. I even ware my different cloaks when it is cold but I do not go in certain places with it unless I want to draw attention to myself.

The point I am getting at is that sometimes you need to blend into the background and not be standing out. Sometimes you need to dress appropriately for the places you are going. Understanding when and wear you can be yourself is not hard. Always be yourself! Just know when to take it down a noch. When I dress in "clone" clothes it is jeans and a tee shirt that has an environmental theme or has the Beatles on it. Sometime it is plain dress clothes like everyone else wears with a "Katie" feel to them. It does not mean I am a clone it just means I know when to tone my personality down so that others are not intimidated by my presence.

I saw it. I don't think Pagans are scary looking and I don't think there is a "Pagan style" since pagans of different religions follow different beliefs and dress differently. Nowadays, Pagan is generally a word used to define anyone following old European religions.

However he didn't exactly say that Pagans are "rebel-ultra-cool-they-can't-touch-us-and-angry-at-the-world" people. And I still think that sounds more like a gothic or emo thing, at least by what some gothics or emos might say.

Kts' post made my point well.

A person should dress for comfort and to impress. They shouldn't go out of their way to become someone they are not just to impress people, they should always express themselves and be themselves no matter where they are or how they dress, but throughout the centuries almost any historical figure would tell you that it is wise to dress strategically. You can just dress for the occasion, but how much would that really affect the people who have seen you away from that occasion?

If they see you dressing nicely elsewhere, it will probably have a big impression stating that you have a good head on your shoulders. If you dress like crap most of the time and then dress nice for that one occasion, the biggest impression it will likely have is people thinking, "thank God he/she didn't dress like crap for this one." :)

Just my opinion based on the experiences of myself(dressing nicely, usually in military uniform(or military supportive casual cloths) for casual and then a suit for occasions and those of my fiance's sister's fiance who dresses like crap all the time and thus is not that impressive when he finally puts his clown makeup away. He does not get paid to dress that way, he actually enjoys making himself look like a fool for free. Good news is he has finally, after I think four or five years, realized that his appearance could be hindering people's impression of him(potential employers, potential friends, etc.) and decided that he should get his three foot long hair chopped off.

Most witches in this area have not dress codes... I seen lots of Santeria workers wearing their usual beeds and white clothing but that's about it. Other times they are dress in casual clothes. It really don't make a difference what type of cloth you wear. Most of the time they dress up only to necromance the spirits.

odd how we seem to concern ourselves with such trivia coloured cloth is coloured cloth in my mundane work as a bus driver i wear the uniform on returning home i wear casuals during magick in the circle i wear robes and use tools which when finished are put away to keep them sacred and free from negative corruption plus the fact they last longer at no time do i not know who i am or what i believe in i cannot control what others think or do or wear nor would i wish to equally they shall never control me either
