In The Broom Closet

I was Just wondering how many people here choose to keep their Path hidden from family , friends coworkers , school mates ect , I do not discuss my beliefs with my family or friends , I have one friend in the real world that also is in the same predicament , I just do not want to be harrassed by any family members or friends telling me that blah blah , what ever .. they would think I am nutts or evil ..

So I remain Silent ...

i almost always remain silent, unless i feel that everything i do could help, or benifit someone who is in need. my mother thinks i am evil, but i don't let it bother me because i know that it is not true!

The only one in my family who knows is my mother. All my friends know.
I don't hide it, but I don't exactly feel the need to run up to my grandparents and try to explain my beliefs when they havent asked.

I don't hide my faith at all. I am very blessed with two grown daughters and they both know and appreciate my beliefs. One daughter is not a pagan and the other is. My grandkids think it's cool to have a witch as a grandma.

My husband is not a pagan - he's nothing really - but he is very supportive of my walk.

As for friends - close friends know but I don't tell anyone that may be offended or become critical of my craft as I don't like to get into religious arguments.

I do tarot reading as a business so I guess the people who come to my house know by the altar with candles and a goddess figure on it that I am not a Christian but it matters not.

So I guess I only tell those close to me but at the same time I don't 'hide' it.

Hugs
Rowan

Yer, I do hide it. I tend to hide myself as well. But I do drop deliberate hints to those who I want to know. if they don't figure it out, tough luck. I'd probably only entrust my BFF Lulu with this kind of thing and maybe my mother if I can confirm she would be fine with it [she is pretty open-minded... keeps saying she would care if i was a lesbian... dunno why, i hope she knows im straight] . I have dropped hints to my sister about it and practically told Lulu, Ben and Mel about it [though in the msg to Ben and Mel I made it a very long annoying email. hehehe, it was fun to send out] . I wouldn't dare spill it to someone who would be against me or something if they knew I took up the art of Witchcraft, for all they know, im the non-believer.
So yer, I guess I've joined ya in the closet ^.^

I am in the "Broom Closet" so to speak. I come from a very religious family who tried to disown me as a teenager for choosing to be Pagan. I suppressed it for a decade, but I still had leanings. I fully embraced Paganism 2 yrs ago, but have remained in the broom closet. No one really knows, except a couple of girls I work with who think it's cool. I wear my Pentacle hidden on me (underneath a sweater, in a pocket, etc). I don't discuss my beliefs to anyone, unless they ask about something they read somewhere.
My altar is on top of my grandmother's old mahogany dresser drawers, filled with candles & incense. When anyone comes over, I take down my Pentacle off the wall and put away my BOS and besom. To them it just looks like my candle holder collection with some Faeries added in as decoration.

My parents know, but they don't choose to talk about it with me.
I've only just found out today that my Grandma is into this stuff too, and is also a clairvoyant.
So I think I'll be talking to her about it from now on.
Apart from that the only people who know are a few close friends, about two at the most, and my friends on here obviously.

I am locked deep inside the broom closet lol. No one on the planet knows i'm into magick. Except all of u of course. My parents know that i'm not a Christian and my dad knows i believe in reincarnation, but thats about it. I almost told my best friend once, i kept dropping hints but she didn't get it. I'v decided to tell my parents and my friends once i can prove magick is real to them.
