If you are an experienced practitioner and have practiced the basics then why not? if you know how to
+ protect your space,
+ attract benevolent or melavolent energies(and knowing the +difference),
+close a portal,
+and cleanse.

to contact your spirits guide, a ouija board is not required. your spirit guide is just that; your own personal compass to help you in life. if memory serves, spirit guides aren't always spirits, typically they are, but it could just be an old friend of the family or teacher who's always been there. i'd advise against ouija boards until you're further in your studies. [if you're doing your year and a day, or have only been studying for a couple years, you're probably not ready.]

A ouija bored is a portal to the spirit world. Yes it can cause spirits to inhabit a place where there previously were none. And while a ouija wont grow legs and walk inside it does have a desturbing tendency to always show back up. With some boards that have seen heavy use, burning it may not work.
