Pazzer I never accept stones from other people, even if they are my best friends. Why? I'm not that trusting. If you are interested in stones. Read about them, their properties and go to a shop and pick one up yourself.
As for this stone, I'm sorry I can't recognize it. But if I were you. I'd go bury it under a tree far away from my home and the cleanse the areas it has touched with salt water.
But this is what I would do if some stranger gave me stone and told me to hang it in my room, without giving me an explanation. You take your call
The picture of the stone is blurry, which causes the stone itself to be unidentifiable.
The "stone" looks black- almost like it could be obsidian or black onyx. But the part that confuses me is the red patch on the front. This is what makes me thing that it isn't a stone.
As stated above, I wouldn't accept anything from anyone unless I knew there was no negative intent. But accepting a stone from someone you are not familiar with is not a good idea. I would cleanse the stone itself, and if you want to keep it... Well, that's your descision.
Like the others have told you it's not best to take a stone from someone else's, especially if they've already used it. So anyway, considering you didn't list the name of the stone, and that the guy didn't tell what it was for, no one can give you an accurate answer.
As a little advice, be mindful of who you take things from. It seems quite strange that this "man" told you to hang it in your bedroom to the east on Saturday.
Well I can only agree with what most other here said taking it was not a smart idea keeping it may be even worse doing as he said could win you a Davin prize.
But what do I know, do as you think is best but practice caution.
