Magic Misunderstanding

As I am reading through many of these threads, I am continuously shocked to see what people are asking for.

"Can someone write me a spell to grow wings? Cat ears? A magical diary that grants all my wishes? Is there a spell to make a cute boy/girl text me back?"

Come on. Magic is so much deeper than this. The way each person uses magic varies depending on the person. I completely understand this. For instance, I use magic as a form of protection, healing and blessing. That is not to say I do not cast spells when I need something. That is perfectly understandable. Example? I'm not sure how I'm going to make next month's bills so I cast a spell to bring enough money into my life to get me through.

What are your thoughts on this? I find myself in a place between chuckling at the innocence and scoffing at the ignorance of some of these people. At any rate, here is my personal thought on magic:

Magic is the thread that ties our souls to the Divine and to the Universe. We all have access to magic, we need only have faith and patience. However, magic is like fire. It is useful and can help us immensely, but when abused it can hurt not only ourselves but those around us. Also, you're not going to grow the ears of a cat with or without magic. Just throwing that in there. ;)

You are certainly not the first person to observe the fluff on this site. I sggest you use your discernement, like the rest of us serious practitioners do, and not bother yourself with people who are not so knowledgable, unless, of course, you are up for a bit of hard work in teaching them. Regards ~ Zeb.

This fluffy demands are indeed ridiculous but I've read loads of forms similar to this one its like there's a repetition about these forms.

But the other forums can encourage that thought. Here at SoM at least someone stands up and says to them that they're looking at magick all wrong. As long as I see one reply explaining logic in a silly topic, I just shake my head and continue on, looking for a serious thread. Lately it's been challenging finding them, I must say. I still think that non-fluffs should be allowed a private forum space to discuss more advanced magick and philosophy. I know there are covens, but I'm a solitairy in real life and that doesn't change online. And I know I'm not the only one here that would enjoy such a space.

You've got to realize though, that most of these people have been watching Harry Potter, or something like that and their magical understanding is what they've seen on Harry Potter. Think about it, if you've never been exposed to the craft and all you've seen is Harry Potter, wouldn't you get a messed up version of the craft too?

It wouldn't be so bad, but they refuse to learn.

Dig a ditch, push 'em in, cover said ditch.

we are the sum of all our experiances good and bad. most of the foks that are talking about silly uses of magic just need to work through their misconceptions. to tell someone that something is inposable will not help. it is their intentions that count in the end.
