If you summon a malevolent spirit with a ouja board can you simply burn the board to immediately purify and move the spirit on?

No. Using a Spirit Board is very tricky as it is opening up a doorway that gets jammed partway open no matter what you do. I imagine there are ways to 'clog' the doorway up a bit, but they are NOT toys and should never be used, even in a closed circle.

Burning the board will not purify yourself or your property.Because it is not the board that plays the role of the "doorway".The board is a tool that helps you to reach state of mind that plays the role of this "doorway".Burning the board does not mean that you automatically will snap out of this state ,because it becomes habit alike and often it is unconscious process. The spirit is not attached to the board; it is attached to you and therefore it will follow you everywhere waiting for you to switch states of conscious in order to communicate with you.
Pendulums also can be used for spiritual communication ,but throwing away the pendulum does not make you less able to dowse if you are about to pick even a y shape stick. Some people even do not need sticks or rods ,they use their own limbs (arms more often) in order to dowse for water, let say.Getting rid of your tools is pointless this will not eradicate your skills or abilities (if you have any),however cleansing your divination tools (ouja board included ) and blessing them raise their vibration in more positive way ,so they are not so much desirable communication tool for negative entities.Having said that if your tools are positively charged ,but you are in particularly bad mood that day and decide to divine your energy will charge them negatively despite the previous blessing and cleansing. In short what you project outwards that is what you will get in return.
I have long video explaining more on the topic. You can find the link on my profile page.It is very long topic to be covered with just one post.

Thank you. That makes sense to me. In the movie they said that they had to say goodbye or else the door would stay open.

Good answer. Unfortunately there are some cases where the Board itself acts as the connection. I suppose it depends on the situation in question. But the point still stands, when used, they are essentially causing a doorway to be opened and stuck open in many cases I have seen. I would advise against using them.

Barbi, the board itself is a tool, same as any other tool. The reason they have bad press is that they're a popular choice for hysterical pubescent people who attract menacing spirits with no clue how to banish them or how to protect themselves. Something scary happens and they feed it with said hysteria and blame it on the tool. I do not believe a spirit is connected to a piece of board any more than it's connected to a butter knife, unless such a connection is thusly created. Use some logic.

Had to lol about the butterknife. And thats exactly what i told my husband when we were watching it but at the same time the writers seemed to have some knowledge compared to other ouja films, so i thought i'd ask. Thank you. I appreciate the replies.

That would probably be the best thing to do. I tell you to be careful with Ouiji boards, they aren't something to play around with. Keep banishing tools (salt, holy water, wand/athame) by the board incase this does happen and always be careful.
If one does come through, banish it, rip and burn the board, and purify the room

i have been told there is a process by which you destroy the board in fire, but i don't know it, and typically those who chuck a Ouija Board in a fire release a lot of bad things. [say this malevolent spirit was attached to the board, you just set them free and they will probably target you] this is why Ouija Boards need to be stored in a safe place, any damage to the board can bring trouble. [my board is cleaned often and is stored in a box in my closet ontop of everything so nothing can be stacked above and damage it]

if you do speak to something that's not friendly and you want it out fast, take some sage smudge and salt water [or vinegar it destroyed all energy good and bad] wash the board and planchette with the salt water to purify it and/or pass it through the sage smoke to be safe. then, sage the whole room/house, sprinkle sea salt on your windowsills and doorways, and cast a protection spell. be sure to have a purifying bath and protect yourself as well.

if you do have a board, be sure you cleanse it on a regular basis depending on use, and if you contacted something you don't feel comfortable with.
