So out of curiosity, I checked out the fairy spells. I avoided "become a fairy" spells and stuck more to calling and summoning. Anyway, I noticed a lot of them are (or at least try to be) serious spells. I never really read much about fairies because I consider them fantasy, like blood sucking vamps or mermaids. But it occurred to me that in all the studying I did years ago, I never came across a book that said "fairies aren't real." I don't understand. Maybe the fairies referred to in the spells and books aren't cute little flying things like Tinkerbell? Or is there a reason people believe in them but not things like vampires? I notice the same is true of dragons, some people take them very seriously, although I was always under the impression that they were just fantasy.
