Just set the pentagram up along with the five candles aligning each point,and say the spell three to five times only with eyes closed,then go along with your day.
"Those who are my enemies and to those who I despised the most, by the power invested by me, your pact ,and your powers. I ask you gods you supreme beings, lords, and underloods to make this wish. Hold dear to my soul and heart from within myself ,so mote it be."

What would you recommend using to create the pentagram? Salt?
I would say that, or something that doesnt blow away easily like i use my blood or paint.
It works in theory, but I do not feel it will work. It does not specify a deity, instead calling on everything, which is never wise. The wording seems clunky and the whole things does not have much of a point. Yes, protection, but then it gives vague words like ''power'' and ''gods'' but does not actually say anything. This might work for some, but I would either rewrite the chant, or find a different spell.
