Go somewhere and chant this:

"Oh Lord of Shadows,
Give me a partner.
Make him strong make him weak.
Make him slow make him fast.
Let me train on him!"

After you are done, try to find him in your mind.

Hmmm I think this could actually work because it's only just a manifestation of a being not an actual living being.

How long does it take for the shadow partner to come

This spell is impractical and unlikely to work. The summary claims it can be used to train in fighting, magic or anything. I find this claim too promising. However this could work in a meditation in a way, however keep your expectations of what can be done realistic. I personally would attempt learning lessons from the partner. How long depends on the meditation. If you are having trouble I suggest books on the topic of visual meditations. Many books on Shamanism have exercises. As for the chant I find it unecessary.
