1 rattle
1 pen
1 piece of paper

1. Take the candle and light it.
2. Write on the piece of paper the thing you are blessing the baby with.
3. Shake the rattle 2 times and chant ''-Baby's full name- I bless you with the gift of -gift-.
4. Burn the paper and put out the candle.
Sweet, simple spell. I would visualize all the blessings you want in the child's life before burning the paper. [and as said, careful with the fire, I wouldn't have the child near the candle. Perhaps have them in a playpen or crib while you sit at a table in the same room]
What did you bless them with and what were you expecting? You could bless the child with joy, wisdom, love. If you were blessing them with heat vision or to grow long golden hair and it didn't instantly happen, no. Also, just because you bless them with joy doesn't mean they'll never feel sad, it means they will have a more positive outlook. [and above all, did you do the normal clear your mind, charge energy, focus your intention because you need to do that for all spells]
