Mediumship!!!??

Hey I’m relatively new to the site, but I wanted to get some advice.
My family have always kept me away from specifically any magic involving death or spirits even though they are mostly Wicca people. I always found it weird but talking with friends I explained some instances I have experienced of seeing dead people who have clearly died in gruesome ways, since I was a child I have seen people hanging or burning and my family really don’t like me looking into this side. But I’m wondering if I may have a gift in mediumship they’re trying to keep me away from? Even the idea of something like an ouija board in my house was forbidden but only for me.
My grandmother has a large spell book that she let me look at once and the second I opened the book it was a necromancy page and she got so angry and vowed to not let me near it again. Is there a chance I have some sort of connection specifically with death??

Good afternoon,

I wanted to put out the thought for you on working in psychopomp type work. This type of work is about helping lost souls that have not crossed over. It can be something that comes naturally to you or a skill you develop over time. I actually have a guide in the forums called "Guide Spirits into Light", which I recently updated with a smoother, more effective ritual. If you’re interested in this field, I encourage you to give it a try and see if perhaps your gifts lie in helping lost souls. You really can be that lantern in the darkness for lost souls who are stuck or confused.

Psychopomp work is a sacred calling that offers many spiritual benefits, not only to the souls you assist, but also to yourself and the environment around you. When you help a soul to cross over peacefully, you ease their suffering and create healing for your own soul through deep compassion and service. It can be a transformative experience, opening you up to greater empathy, spiritual maturity, and understanding of life and death. On an environmental level, this work can clear energetic blockages that often linger in places where spirits remain, restoring harmony and peace to homes, natural spaces, and communities.

However, I want to emphasize that psychopomp work is not something to enter lightly. Once you open that door to the spirit realm, it can be difficult to close it. There are real dangers involved. Some spirits may be lost, confused, or even hostile, and without proper protection and grounding, it is easy to become overwhelmed or drained. That’s why it’s vital to approach this work with respect, humility, and strong spiritual safeguards. Using protective rituals, calling on guides or guardian spirits, and keeping yourself grounded will help you stay safe while offering this important service.

I pray that you find what you are trying to seek that will be the betterment for yourself.

Thank you
V/R
