I just want to understand you correctly as I try my best to answer your question. Your cousin asks for protection and mercy from Lilith. Your cousin also sees Lilith in her dreams.

If this is the case, then I would say the dreams are because of the offerings and devotions that your cousin gives to Lilith. If none have been given then perhaps your cousin is to begin this type of practice because her thoughts already have begun the steps on this path.

If you are saying that Lilith has just appeared out of the blue in your cousin's dreams and that Lilith is asking your cousin for protection and mercy, then I would say your cousin needs to research Lilith.

Lilith is the first wife of Adam, shewas made equal to Adam in every way but she would not submit to his authority over her. She fled and God said she was only to come back of her own free will. She did not return and was threatened with death by the angels sent to find her and bring her back. She still refused the patriarchy and "was forced to become" or was named a demon. I am unsure why Lilith would ask for protection and mercy as it's not her style at all.

If your cousin frequently dreams of Lilith it could mean a few different things. One possibility is that your cousin is interested in lilith's mythology already.

Lilith as a deity could also be making her presence known.
