House Spirit?

Hi.

Lately I have had more than one occurrence where one of my items will go missing, and then compensation like change will appear.

I'd chalk it up to misplacing things and being a more normal occurrence except it just happened again in the presence of others. I was looking for change and didn't have enough and couldn't find any, then 2 more dimes were there when they weren't before. I asked another present if they put it there and they said they hadn't. No one did.

Yesterday I set my lighter down and it was gone moments after. Not where I thought I set it. And, not anywhere I normally would.

If there were someone stealing from my place, I'd see them.

I have heard of Fae taking things now and then, but my question is are Fae the only spirits known to do this?

Also, what are reasons a spirit may do this?

I am simply trying to figure out if this is indeed a spiritual being, what type it is.

I do not feel it proper to assume it is Fae simply because I have read Fae will do this.

Is it possible other spirits may do this, and what are some of the reasons?

Yes, it is possible that other spirits will nick things from time to time. Some may 'give' up a payment, most just nick stuff.

I have found, in my own home, that it is best to leave out specific things for them to nick and state exactly what things they are not allowed to take. This cuts down on the frustration of missing items and sets clear boundaries for those entities that reside within your home with you.

I find they like shiny things such as cheap jewelry, broken earrings, beads, and other trinkets like that. They also generally enjoy offerings of food and drinks.

As for the Fae. I am beginning to relize there is a distinction between European Fae and what I have come to call American Fae. I could be completely wrong though.

Thank you for your response. It helped settle most of my annoyance. I wonder though if you could explain this distinction between European Fae and American? I live in America and my experience with a house Fae indicated only that it in particular likes the house kept clean. What are some of your experiences if you don't mind? I ask because we read about the European Fae so much, and there does not seem to be much written about American variants.

I am not sure there is an American Variant. However, from my experience with the ones in and around the places I have lived, there seems to be.

Some of the differences are: The ones I found actually like thank-yous and gifts. The European version are said to find it insulting and potentially it is dangerous to them.

I have not found iron to affect or upset the ones around me.

Most of the ones I encounter do prefer to have boundaries set, of what is expected from us and them, to make the living situation better.

Some are malicious, some are beneficial, most are neutral (they really don't interact much).

I have encountered different types with different temperments. Various physical attributes and customs.

From what I have experienced, there is a distinction based on domain. Fae, Vaetteror spirits inhabit different portions of a locality. Some are tied to the land, they have always been there and always will be there. Some are attached to families and kindreds and follow them for generations and some inhabit items and things of spicific makeup such as stone and wood. It's my opinion that there are few differences in these spirits when it comes to geographic or national identity. Land ownership, national identity and occupation by social groups are fluid and temporary things. Those are always subject to change in the course of history. As humanity migratesand reorganizes throughout the cycles of evolution, some spirits come and go with the changes and some of course remain behind. I don't think that spirits are bound to nationality or exclusive human origin.

The outdoors has a variety of spirits that interact with natural things. Some inhabit rocks, trees and plant life. How we interact with those forms the basis of our relationship with those spirits. If we maintain a positive relationship with our land spirits, the land is fruitful to us and we are somewhat protected from natural disaster.

House spirits I would imagine are mostly concerned with the goings on and atmosphere of the dwelling. If we generate a pleasant place of domain for ourselves, we are happy and our house spirits are content. If we allow our home to become a place of discomfort and disorder, then everyone is uncomfortable. People are cranky and so are the spirits. We start having problems with the home and things start breaking down or become displaced. If you start observing things going missing, perhaps think that people and spirits are not operating in harmony. Take some time and improve the atmosphere and organization of the home and its processes and things will come back into balance. Spirit will assist you but they will not do everything for you. We alone are responsible for maintaining the frith of the garthso to speak.

The first step in working with the Vaetter is of course giving them recognition. Once we acknowledge them, we can start building a relationship based on peaceful cohabitation. Make their home a nice place to be and they will help you in reciprocity. Ignore that we all inhabit shared spaces and you will feel the repercussions. Mal and strife begets more, frith and comfort the same. Look back into places that you have been and assess the atmosphere of those places. The general feeling of the place is a good indication of the people and the spirits that inhabit it.

For our house hold we have what is known asAgathos Daemon they are very important and given a day each month for respect and honor not to mention daily or any important rituals done in the home. we have a snake that is a representation of them in our house and offer it smoke from the sticks we burn in honor of them. Some give offerings in the morning or evening or both daily.

It has happened to me before, usually these are playful spirits that just want to mess with your brain. Don't let them though lol. Some actually want to see what's in our dimension so they borrow it and give it back a couple of minutes or hours later. Don't worry about it. If something seriously important disappears, that's a bad sign. Like the my favorite toy in my childhood. It disappeared out of nowhere and neither me or my mom could find it. It was a Venom action figure from Spiderman. I loved that action figure and some evil spirit took it.

Thank you everyone. I have exhausted other possibilities as well. I will keep my eyes out for things.

I am considering more logical explanations, as it stands the item has yet to be found.

Thank you for the responses.
