only 7 years?

Hello, I went to a fortune teller in 2019 and this one sentence that they told me has never left my mind, "Tarot can see for only 7 years"
I'm a tarot reader myself actually but at that time I was only a beginner so I didn't ask about it but I'm really curious. I would be really happy if someone share their knowledge/personal opinions about it. Have a wonderful day/night :)

See for only 7 years? As in 7 years into the future or only have the ability to read tarot for 7 years? If you meant your skill goes away over time, no. The more we practice, the better we become. If you meant you could do a reading to see 7 years into the future, but no further, maybe? Whenever I've read, it gives me the near future, roughly 6 weeks to a year unless I specify ["Will they be engaged in two years time?" That sort of thing] I feel the notion you can only see so far into the future is because the future's always changing. I'm of the belief that sometimes even doing a reading can be enough to change the future. I would just stick to the near future since long term predictions can change rather easily.

A few myths I heard when I was starting out was your tarot deck can only be gifted to you, which is a nice idea, but not necessary. If you're drawn to a deck, use it. I also was told you shouldn't get compensation for your readings. Again, nice idea, but some people need to earn a living, and they wish to learn off their gifts. I would argue being greedy and charging double what you think is fair could result in some type of karmic retribution, but having to read for free doesn't feel like a fair trade. You could [I do free readings for friends, and they do free readings for me] but it takes time and energy, you need some form of compensation, even if it's just a plate of cookies to refill your energy.

You know oddly this seems about right to me. I wouldn't necessarily agree with seven exact years, but the idea of being able only to see so far, rings true to me.

While the number doesn't make sense to me. The idea that tarot can only see so far into the future can. Tarot picks up on energy and energy can change if a person has the insight to that energy and does something about it to cause that change then they change that possible outcome. And, since the idea of energy changing it does make sense on why tarot would only pick up events that could possible happen in a short period of time.

Honestly it's up to you to decide, if you believe that a readingcan only see seven years ahead then that's your personal belief. I've never seen any specific rule about seven years but it might have just been for this persons personal predictions/readings.

thank you all so much, I think at the end of the day it's our tarot cards and our gift so nobody should feel stuck in a limitation like 7 years. At that time it made sense to me because 7 is a magical number etc. But again, thank you for sharing your opinions, it really helped me :)
