Magic & Us
By: Moderator / Adept

A thought crossed my mind the other day, while I was watching a thunderstorm at work. The presence of the storm and its approach put me in the mood to practice some work of magic. It didn't matter what it was, I just felt the urge to cast as I watched the clouds move and the storm come rolling in.

Does anyone else feel themselves magically influenced (or rather influenced to practice magic) by the weather or the seasons and cycles? I feel a connection to certain weather patterns and seasons and I find myself more open to and readily practicing magic during these times.

Does anyone else find this to be true for them as well?

Absolutely, I was just thinking about this for the past couple of days. It has been cool, dark and drizzly where I am at and last night we had a pretty good storm roll in with clouds lighting up. This kind of weather puts me in a positive, even joyful mood and inspires me to do magical work. As far as seasons go the Autumn, Winterand Spring are my best times of year for workings. Summers where I am at are so hot that I don't feel like doing anything.

I have also found that I can feel energies far more strongly when I am out of doors, preferably next to a river or other wather source.

I'm not sure if at times my practicing of magic is so much influenced by the weather as it is seasonal change.

I tend to practice all Spring and Summer long wildcrafting local plants I intend to use in workings, and a few edible plants I like for teas. But this too, is very dependent on where I live and my environment. I move often, so some places I may only have access to goldenrod, pine, cat tails, and blueberries, while where I currently reside I have access to rosehips, goldenrod, dandelion, blackberries, mugwort, and some other flowers, and lesser burdock.

Then as Mabon rolls around, I will harvest for the final time, and begin spellwork, I often in the past would engage in protection workings at this time, but this year the focus has been more aggressive due to circumstance and local, a lot of hex spells, have been written. It is as well at this time I will begin a few prosperity workings.

Around the time of Samhain I will offer incense smoke to ancestors as well as begin other ancestor workings if I am able. In 2019 I was based near a family cemetery and did a working with grave dirt, communicating with individuals who had lived there on the land prior to my family.

Also there are certain areas where I've lived where there are places nearby which I will leave or offer offerings. Short pilgrimages to places of power.

Much of my practice is very seasonal, and based highly on locale. I work often with local spirits in natural spaces, or even local spirits which stay near buildings. There are a few local I've seen on more than one occasion that seem to be connected to a building.

Such events happen with me too !
In my case ,the urge to cast is triggered by rain . As it starts drizzling , i get urged to meditate . After meditation i tend to do divination, deity work and some other spells. And that's why i cast a lot of spells in the rainy season.
Good to know there are more practitioners like me .
Blessed be!
