I知 new and I知 a Muslim

Hi I reverted to Islam almost 10 years ago, I’ve never been a strict Muslim and I think I’m more spiritual.
I’m interested to learn about magic, I know it’s real but it’s not allowed in Islam. Could anyone tell me what their religious beliefs are and how they see magic, do you believe in the devil? What do you believe will happen to you when you die? The main thing I’m scared of is if doing magic is actually a sin and I will be punished for taking part.

I grew up for the first 15 years of my life as a Strict Catholic. however, my beliefs changed over time. I guess I would be considered part of shamanism (The belief that every living thing on earth has a soul.). I believe in Lucifer, if thats what you mean. I believe that there are different plains of after life. Not just three as i was raised. What could be considered good magic is not punishable, but dark magic could be.

@Hana.az I was loosely Christian for most of my adolescent life, but into my late teen years, I didn't feel like it was for me. I've been involved in Polytheistic and occult-based spirituality ever since. I don't believe in a Devil or hell or any Abrahamic beliefs really. I believe in reincarnation as a process that over time elevates us up to higher planes of existence. Magic has been a part of Abrahamic religions from a very early time. We have some very important grimoires from early Arabic magicians such as The Picatrix. There is the idea that in Abrahamic religions, the power of magic comes from god or faith and dedication to him.


@XCrimefight The word you're looking for is animism, not shamanism. Shamanism is a specific spiritualbelief system that may or may not be animistic.

Thank you both for replying, very interesting, so it seems witches can have different beliefs when it comes to religion and the afterlife but can still practice witchcraft.
So another question is how does magic actually happen, I don’t really know too much about it if I’m honest just that I know it’s real. I’m scared I’d be mixing with the devil or jinn or something, but as you said @fratersilas you don’t even believe in the devil or hell so do you still believe in somehow being punished for taking part in black magic ?

Oh yeah, beliefs even among witches can vary a lot. I don't really consider myself a witch though, I follow Revival Druidry and ceremonial magic. I do believe in some sort of karma, so doing harm or evil towards others will just make you stay incarnated within the world we're in now rather than progressing until you've paid off that karmic debt.

Hi, I'm a Christian Witch :) That's a common fear whenever mixing an Abrahamic worship with Witchcraft. I can really only speak for the Bible (the Quaran has been on my reading list for a while, though) but in my practice, Jesus worked magic. He raised the dead by God's power, was able to perform miraculous feats, and that is essentially what Magic is. You are working Allah's will through yourself. So long as you perform magic in accordance to your beliefs (in my case, I only use my magic to heal and benefit others) you should fear no retaliation from your god. Most people practice magic, and certainly most if not all religions. Prayer magic is something I often offer up as an example of using magic unintentionally. You are putting an intention out into the universe for the Divine to answer.

In short, follow your heart, allow Allah to guide you, and you cannot go wrong :) Purhaps Allah is guiding you to witchcraft to better yourself and your spiritual power. That's what He did for me <3 Also, I personally know people in my coven in real life who are muslim and witches. There are two in my real-world coven :D

Thank you all, you’ve definitely made me feel better about venturing into witchcraft. Amazing to hear there are Muslim witches too. I definitely believe prayer is a form of magic, asking God to grant us something, but I’m still unsure about how spells work, are we asking someone or something to make the spell happen or is it our energy somehow affecting other people ?

Spellwork is just prayer with props :) It's kinda like giving your prayer a signal boost. It's all the same thing.
