A secret handshake used by members of the Freemasons so that they know when they have encountered a 'brother". This is not known to people outside of the Freemasons, though many claim to know it and many examples of the handshake are given, if you are not a Freemason you really do not know what it is.

There are also different handshakes and signs for different degrees. It is very much so an outdated product of historical secret societies- nobody can really tell you, I would imagine the different branches of masonry have different ones and if you don't belong to the fraternity it really doesn't matter too much.

Freemasonry is a sterile occult tradition- it's an old mans club these days, barely any interest in occultism left.
