Getting Runes
By:
I've been wanting to focus more on runes for a while, but I only have a few rocks with the runes written on them. Does anyone know places that I could buy them, or have tips on making them?

traditionally they were made from a branch cut from a flowering tree, sliced into discs and the rune was cut into the the disc and given life by a spot of blood from the practitioner (on each rune).

You can buy them on most pagan shops, the site store has a few sets, amazon sells them as well. I think even Barnes and Noble carries them on the online site.

Runes can also be made (though many will disagree with me) using pebbles, rocks, air dry clay, craft discs and popsicle sticks. You either paint or draw the rune on the item you are using by what ever method you have handy.

One inexpensive method I've seen uses the semi-flat decorative glass gravel for vases, sold in dollar stores. Runes are written on the flat side with a contrasting permanent marker (like silver, for example, on dark blue stones).

Of course, you could do just about anything you like as long as you have the tools for the job, like cutting discs out of a branch, even just using card stock or paper in a pinch. I've seen homemade sets of runes from all sorts of materials.
