Magic movies

Is there anyone here who has seen movies that contains magic? To take Harry Potter as an example, this is a kind of magic related movies I don't like. I have not seen a whole movie by HP, there are far too many effects in this movies that do not belongs to two magic at all. But the movie I have as favorite is The Craft, they are using dark magic, but fine enough.

I don't personally mind movies that have magic that wouldn't work in real life. That's part of what I love about the fantasy genre. It lets you experience things you wouldn't be able to in real life.

I don't really mind "dark" magickeither. I've done baneful magick before (such as curses and hexes) when I felt it was necessary, because my path doesn't adhere to any karmic system.

I did watch The Craft when I was in high school, and I enjoyed it alright from what I remember.

Are you asking for recommendations of movies that represent magick accurately, though, or is this thread for discussing witchcraft in movies?

I doubt there are any movies that portray real magic use. It just isn't all that interesting. If you want an idea of what real magic looks like, the Good Witch movies are the closest I have ever seen, even than some of what is portrayed is far from true.

I personally enjoyed 'practical magic' as well. It takes liberties for the sake of entertainment, after all people watch to be entertained, but it is an enjoyable story and the magic is just realistic enough to set aside dis-belief. They actually squirrel a few truths into the script too. Like the power of symbols, and what defines something as such.

Another old classic is 'Dragonslayer'. It is full of 80's cheese and puppet-based critters, but it is the good kind of camp. And Vermithrax is still one of my favorite cinema dragons.

There are a couple documentaries on netflix that are really interesting as well. 'the pyramid code' is really good, and there was one on the history of the witch hunts as well. 'witch hunts, a century of murder'. Less about magic though and more about the politics and chain of events.

The absolute BEST magic movie I've ever seen is Last Keepers. There is a bit of fantasy magic, but it orbits around the Wiccan religion and real craft! I highly recomend it :D
