Limits on Daemons
By: / Beginner

Recently, I got into Goetic daemons and decided I wanted to learn more about them. I did come up with a question from that. What are the limits on a daemons power? I know each one has a different power but could they change physical aspects about yourself or supply you with anything you've wanted?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, please, but I don't quite think their powers reach that far.

Honestly the only daemons I see humans summoning are the regular daemons from anyday possessions and the type devil I Master summoning is a high- born or low ranking devil. So why bother even try to measure their power when a regular daemon is only has the power of foot soldier the low ranking devils only have the be hungry tanks and the high-born just cast fire magick.

I just want to correct word usage here to avoid confusion. There is a difference between the Christian demon and the Greek originating daimon/daimones. The word daemon comes from daimon. In Greek philosophy and spirituality, the daimon is an intermediary spirit between man and the Gods and Goddesses. They can be both benevolent and malevolent depending. The daimon is also in some cases referred to as the guiding spirit/soul that each individual has at birth.

The Goetic demons are from the Biblical Rabbi/King Solomon. The Christian adaptation of the daimon spirits, demons, focuses on the evil and fits it into the polarized evil vs. good, God vs. Devil dogma. I personally don't believe in Christian demons and see them as a corruption of the original concept of the daimones.

That being said, the Goetic approach laid out in the Lemegeton (Lesser Key) is very much Abrahamic and relies on that system. I personally view them as a sort of daimon rather than demon. Approaching it from my perspective of them being daimones, as intermediary spirits, they are not as powerful as Gods and Goddesses, but the can indeed influence us and the world around us. They can't, however, physically change you in a transformation sort of way, but they can provide influences for you spiritually and mentally to change yourself or your thoughts physically. When I say change physically, I mean things that are possible to change physically such as your physical fitness, mental fitness, your motivations, your state of being from your home and career, emotions, etc.
