If you are a beginner, I wouldn't start with spells.
Spells require a foundation of knowledge to be able to done successfully, this should ideally be gained before you start considering spells, rituals and other magickal workings.

The more information you learn about spell work and magick in general, the easier it will be to know which spells are real and which are not, but a quick overview is that:

  • Spells cannot break natural laws
  • If you can't already do it without magick, you won't be able to do it with.
  • Spells to control the elements are fake
  • Spells that offer physical transformation are also fake

Generally, common sense is the key for spells, if it sounds too good to be true, or unrealistic, then it likely is.

I would suggest purchasing a book on beginner practice, my personal favourite is: "Before you Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman.

There are also many good forums on this website that can help:

Read and learn as much as you can about the basics, and then you can move on to spells. There are all kinds of books out there on all kinds of topics. I can give you some titles from my own library if you are interested.

Blessings!
