Spell Room

Hello everyone, I´m new here and I´m interresting in magic. I would like to know if you have any special place where are you doing your spells. Like one room decided to magic or some secret place? I have no privacy to practice magic, I was thinking about finding place in the nature. What do you think about that?

Personally, I do not choose a special place to perform any magick. Some people like to have an alter to do all their practices, but having an alter is not required. You can have one outside or inside, it doesn't matter. Having one outside would help you bring in the energy of nature in your working and ground you better.

In a lot of work that has been published in the last few years state that you need a 'Sacred' or 'Special' place to work your magic. This wholly untrue, whilst a specific area or altar/space in nature works for some people - it doesn't work for everyone.

Consider where you live, consider what space you have available to you? Do you live with others? Do you have access to a private place within Nature?

In my personal experience - I have never found much from Nature as a place to work - the energies weren't right, not very private, and I had little successes of work - the same with Altars or dedicated rooms/space in my own home - it never felt right for me personally. I prefer to use my dining room table to work my magic - or in my kitchen, but mostly my dining room table.

Think practically over which space you'll use, think and experiment until you eventually find a spot that works for you.

And always remember

The books you read are just guidelines based on the authors' experiences and what others have told them, find the craft for you and you alone.

In my path, just about everything is done outdoors. Inside my home are small daily devotional alter setups to honor the deities that govern the attributes of the home.

Privacy isn’t a requirement for ritual and ceremony in my path but not being disturbed or distracted is very important. I’m fortunate to have an area outside my home to practice and very polite neighbors that value my right to worship as I value theirs. Noted that we have vastly different paths.

You should expect onlookers in any public place and private places are not always accessable when you need them. Create some contingency plans where you can perform without a lot of tools and materials. A simple park bench or even a seat on a crowded bus can be a place to do something if you can tune out the outside world. I have seen soldiers build hasty altars in a pile of sand and perform their devotional works. If they can do it, the rest of us should be able to figure something out here in more peaceful worlds. Hope that helps

I have always found my spells to be most effective when working in a space I am familiar and comfortable with. I need some privacy, but mostly, I just need to know the energy in the space. This has usually turned out to be my bedroom.

I always liked the idea of working outside too, but my neighbors weren't as comfortable with my practices, and the private places outside were quite a ways away, so it just wasn't practical for me to go there every time I wanted to practice.

But as was said above, just keep trying until you find someplace that works and feels right to you. There's no right or wrong way to practice

Best of luck to you
