Hades and Hecate

Currently I've been devoted to Hecate for almost a year or so now, and I've been wanting a patron god for awhile now. I know Hecate and Hades would work together very well. But has anyone worked with Hades at all? What is he like, what does he like? What is he best known to work alongside with? It would be a bonus if you worked with both deities! Thanks to anyone who will answer.

From the texts and mythology of Hades I gather that he is the ruler of the under world, and associated with death. He is known to swindle people and deities and play tricks on them.
He is not some one I personally would trifle with. Hecate is generally associated with magic/illumination. I would pair Hades with Hypno. In a way death is just an unending seamless slumber.
If you like to curse people Hades would work fine. Generally I would pick Apollo to pair with Hecate. He is associated with prophecy, healing, and light. Aka stuff that aids in magic.

Through research, and evidence from myths and stories, Hades is always portrayed as unyielding and unhelpful, not really caring for the fate of mortals.

My pantheon of gods are the Greek deities, and some other ones I would consider instead of Hades, would be like the person said above me, Apollo, I call on home whenever I'm doing divination work. Other gods would be, if you do a lot of mediumship work, meaning trying to reach out to spirits, I would use Hermes, if you need a general god, there's always Zeus, in stories and legends, the other gods and men themselves would ask Zeus for blessings. If you're planning on doing some love spells, there's Aphrodite. Also, another good one is Artemis, she is a pure goddess known for her purity, but also relieving diseases of women, and despite her being the goddess of the hunt, she also protected animals. Then there's Athena, the goddess of wisdom, courage, law and justice, strategy, arts, crafts and various skills. If you're planning on doing spells for the home, like cleansing, better home life, protecting, there's Hestia the goddess of the hearth and home.

Now, there are a bunch of minor gods that might suit your fancy better, but I'll just name a few of them. There's the graces, or the charites, they were goddesses of charm, beauty, nature, human creativity, and fertility. Hebe is the goddess of youth. Then there's the Muses, there's specialties being history, astronomy, tragedy, comedy, dance, epic poetry, love poetry, songs to the gods, and lyric poetry. There's Nemesis the goddess of divine justice and vengeance, her anger was directed at the ones guilty of arrogance. Adrestia, who is the equilibrium between good and evil, and then psyche, the goddess of the soul.

I only named a few,but the Greek pantheon had a god or goddess for anything and everything.

Hey! I hope this is helpful, since I actually do work with Haides.

For me, he is definetly not someone you should just mess around with. He's a God that isn't as casual and demands respect. He'll help me out but only if he knows I will give him soemthing in return, there's no taking advantage of.

While he seems stern and maybe intimidating, to me he comes off as kind of an uncle. He's caring and willing to give it to you like it is, whenever I work with him he's extremely clear on what he means. I would never say he is uncaring for people, or that he is a bad God, because he's never been anything but kind to me, even when I'm coming to him as a big mess.

For example, I was asking him to do something for me in a bad emotional state, he could tell that's not what I really wanted and refused to indulge me on my bad descision. Only after I had calmed down and approached him with a clear mind would he show me compassion.

I'd say if you wnat to work with him you should, but only if you feel an actual connection and aren't just looking for another god to work with because you can. But I have found my relationship with him rewarding and secure, just always keep respect in mind.

I work with Hekate, Persephone, and Hades, and I find them all to be very amicable. Hades is stoic, to be sure, but if you bring the worship of his wife along with him, her influence can soften his harsher edges. He is a ruler of death, to be sure, but he is also a god of fertility and wealth. Many people look at the Death side of him and overlook the part that gives life to the earth. I see Hades as a beautiful individual and enjoy working with him. If you intend to worship any Kthonic/Underworld deities, I find it imperative to work with their king. That being said, I do think that worship of the Hellenic Divinities needs to be just that. Worship. If you intend to ask the Beautiful Ones for anything, it is of the utmost importance that you acknowledge them in your life. I am not saying that the original poster is doing this, at all, but I think it needs to be said. The Kthonic deities are much harsher than their Ouranic and Oceanic counterparts. If you want to work with them, you will have to work for them. Note, this is all just my experience, but I find that going into anything to do with the Underworld involves letting your most honest self show. After all, Hades' AND Hekate's entire world revolves around weighing the souls of the dead. How much easier is it to weigh an unfinished life? That being said, as long as you are respectful, Hades should have no issue with you.

I would disagree on some of the aspect of Hades. He is a very patient God compared to his brothers in a manner. He is one of the few Gods that have not cheated on their spouses and a number of other things. He is a God of Wealth, Patience and so many things. The solid rocks to the currency could be associated with him. He has good aspect in mythology as well as negative.

Anyone else have further interactions with Hades and if so how do you work with him?

In Ancient Greece it was often considered unlucky to even say the name Hades. Unlike most other Gods there wasn’t a cult dedicated to him. So worshipping him and developing a relationship with him is really down to you. Read up as much as you can and create a way of interacting with Hades that suits the both of you. Feel free to be as creative as you’d like.
