Hello all! I have recently come across a book, it's some kind of journal that was once owned by my grandmother on my father's side. I have reason to believe that she is/was Wiccan or pagan. She had given me this journal a few days before she died and it seemed to have some kind of energy in it. I don't mean your everyday kind of energy but I've blessed and cleansed and consecrated objects long enough to recognize when something has been consecrated. I didn't notice it at first but thinking back when I was younger she would have us do Wiccan activities. For example: she had taken me to a and my family to a festival, and she had us all come over to a crystal booth, there was both jewelry with crystals, small crystals etc. when I was trying to choose between two, she told me to hold each in my hands and see which one feels right, or when I was drawn to a certain crystal she had asked me what drew me to it? Was it the color, what the tag said the crystal does? Etc. I understand that those things aren't strictly Wiccan but she was always in tune with nature and enjoyed spending time in nature. And when I try to open the journal I keep feeling like there's something trying to keep me from opening it, I don't mean literally keep me away like if I touch it an unseen force is going to push me away or something. But when I get near to it I keep thinking the feeling I get reminds me of the book of shadows blessing spell. I'm not making this up I'm just not sure how to describe it. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thank you

Open the book and see what is actually written in it. That should tell you whether this was her grimoire or just a mundane journal or diary.,
Given that Wicca is only some 70 years old I doubt that she was Wiccan. But it is, of course, possible that she was a Witch of some sort. But at this point you are just guessing since you don't know what is in the book.
I agree, the only way to find out is to look. At least it seems to be a positive item given the sense of being protected by a blessing. And if she specifically handed the journal to you then it is safe to assume she wanted you to have it so you could make some use of the contents.
if you are concerned about violating the blessing somehow, just be sure you approach the book with a positive mindset, and perhaps speak to the book as if you were speaking to your grandmother. Thanking her for giving you the book and stating that you would like to read from it and why. Whether it is to honor her memory, to remember her and the things she showed you, or to learn about her thoughts and experiences... whatever the reason may be speak it aloud. Then place the book in your lap, your hand on the cover, and see what happens.
Turns out it is a book of shadows, not sure if it's her main book of shadows or if she had others. There are a lot of really interesting spells and all different kinds of journal entires on results of spells, things that were added which improved them. It's all just really amazing!
For clarification I was referring to the blessing on the book as I didn't want to ruin it or any kind of protection spells that may be on the book. I've looked through the book but I wasn't sure if that would ruin any kind of spells placed on the book, I know my now deceased grandmother have it to me so I can only assume she did something to the protection spells casted to protect the book so I wouldn't affect it in any negative way, it that makes sense. Thank you for all of your suggestions. Happy eclipse day!
sounds at first glance a book of shadows. it holds the person's energy within. unlocked by their own blood(children, grand children, etc.)
it also seems as though it has powerful magick and words set within the pages. you may need balancing and practice inorder to open it.
she willed this book to someone. if it is in your hands, it may be for you now. hold your hands over the book. look around and call her name. ask her for permission to open it. what is willed can not be lost. come with no ill intentions.
