i've been a solo magic-weilder for a while, and my path and terminology are vary diffrent from the norm. i will not give personal details about myself but will my magic. but i was wondering if i'd be better off alone or if i should join a coven to share spells and hopefully make friends.

Honestly its up to you, how ever its always nice to have friends who can help you if need to or open your eyes to a topic you might find interesting, that doesn't mean you have to join a coven , but maybe see what groups or event are going on in your area. that way if you make friends and become interesting in there coven. you wont be thrown in at the deep end with out know what they believe in and if there the right one for you. though having people you believe in other paths is always interesting
hope this helps

I've been solitary for most of my practice until I joined here some months ago. Theres pros and cons to both, Eris but ultimately it really is up to you. I don't think many of us here follow a "normal" path because a lot of us have learned to take things in strides and do what feels right. Do you think you'd learn and grow more surrounded by other people? There's usually a lot of perspective sharing that can shed light on previously darkened subjects. Sometimes you might not agree and sometimes it's difficult to put yourself in someone elses boots to see their perspective, but if you can do this you will grow and learn.

The biggest difficulty I found with being solitary is that I had no one to share my thoughts, ideas, or experiences with. On many occasions it left me feeling insane, as if my experiences were delusional and that I'd gone over the deep end.

So it really is up to you, what you're looking to gain/contribute dnd what you're comfortable with. On a side note being in a coven doesn't solely mean sharing spells and making friends. If you find the right coven then all of that is a part of it, yes, but it's also usually about communal growth and communication (especially in regards to online covens). You share pieces of perspective, knowledge, and experience until eventually you have all learned something from one another no matter how significant or insignificant that may be.

It is not at all uncommon for people to follow a more solitary path, but it doesn't mean you can't share ideas and information. The trick is just approaching conversation with the right attitudes. Try to maintain a sense of humility and respect for other ideas outside your own, and don't worry too much about arguing ideas. Just share what you follow, allow others to do the same, and if you gain new information from it, great. If not, no biggie.

Why do you even care what people think?
If it works for you, great. Use it.
People have different experiences, so you may or may not find many people who's experiences align exactly, or even at all, with yours.
What is valid and works for one, doesnt necessarily mean it will be true for another.

I think you might find it beneficial to read Personified's "UPG and PCPG in Practice" thread. It goes into detail about how there's sort of a collective understanding of something and then there's a personal understanding and knowledge of things. It's a very good read.

It is all up to you. Many people believe the combined projections and thoughts of covens are more energetic. Many other people don't really consider that to be the case. It is totally up to you.
