Thank you so much for bringing this up!
It really has been a problem for me too. :(

Part of the problem is that the kind of folks to send those sorts of messages aren't the kind of folks to read, or take notice of, requests not to flirt on your profile. They can't see beyond the profile picture and treat the site like a pick up joint.

Best ignored, or insulted and then ignored if you're feeling snarky.

Yeah, that can be rough. People should try to be nice. Innocent until proven guilty, right?
Still, there are really all kinds on this site.
The good, and the bad.

omg there was this one creep who was hitting on me ['i know that's not you but are you as sexy as your profile'] when i told him i had a boyfriend he responded 'i have a girlfriend, doesn't mean we can't flirt ;)' and i blocked him so fast. my boyfriend found the whole thing funny though. usually people will ask me out, or if i'm single and i just shut them down like instantly the horrible person i am lol. but yes, this is a magick site, not a dating site, but there are people everywhere who hope they might get lucky. inform a mod or site admin and block them. also, don't delete the mail, so the admin can look at it for a reference.

There's a difference between saying hi, chatting and over time getting to know someone asking them out. It's when strangers send a message where they come on really strong and creepy, or keep at it even after someone says no. I've had people message me with a 'hi, I saw you on the forums and was wondering if you wanted to go out' I've said no, explained why and they back off. It's the ones who don't take no for an answer that need to take a look at themselves.

Merry Meet

It's not just woman on the site, I state on my profile I'm married and I still get messages from men and woman asking if I was looking for someone. I feel it's partially our society telling people to be loved or you're nothing, but this site is full of people asking for love spells, so it's natural to message like minded individuals in the hopes of finding love.

Blessed Be.

The worst thing I have found is not the messages themselves, but those who refuse to take no for an answer and then begin to get abusive when you say no, again and again.

It is very concerning really, I not only state on my profile, but will instantly shoot anyone down, but I have met many a member who begins to swear, threaten and verbally abuse you if you don't respond the way they want.

It really does say something about society when this happens so frequently to so many women and men on this website.

If someone does this, no matter how mild it may be, if you say no and they continue, block them..
If after you say no, they proceed to throw abuse, profanity, threats, etc, at you, no matter how minor they may seem, save the mail in the "special" mail box, block and report them to a moderator. It is the only way to send them the message if all else has failed.

Yes, they are allowed to rejoin the site, but, as I have found out (with a few members in particular), they almost always rejoin with a similar name or the same/similar profile photo, so keep a look out for any mail from similar usernames and photos and block/report them if anything happens again.
