Tonsillitis is serious business, typically tonsils are removed if these infections keep recurring.

The throat, ears, eyes and nose are connected so the earache makes a lot of sense. Im sorry youre going through that.

There are some things you can do:

Tea with honey is very comon to help relieve the pain and sore throat.

Slippery Elm is also good especially for opening up breathing passages and pain relief. Try to get lozenges.

Garlic is good for an infection, you would do a 10 day course similar to taking antibiotics. Take something like acididolphus or yogurt with active cultures to preserve the natural flora in your intestines.

If you have significant swelling of your lymph nodes, the fever persists, or the infection spreads to the lungs (bronchitis) i would recommend seeing a doctor.

Vitamin C is good for infections and to reduce inflammation. Papain an enzyme from papaya is also good for this.

Lots and lots of fluids, pure water being best, will help your blood flush the infection.

As far as the kids go, i could see a headache in your future...white willow bark is an aspirin alternative. Though ive read plain or buffered aspirin is easier on the stomach anyaway...aspirin is derived from WW bark anyways.

Look, Im not a doctor, and i dont play one on TV. But these are the things I would do if i had those symptoms.

A decent sore throat spray can be really helpful too.

I hope you get better soon Becky.

Listen to your body and dont be afraid to get help if things dont get better!

The poster above is very correct in their herbal ideas, but it is not right for us to say what should be taken as we are not trained herbalists. Many herbs can interact with medication or can cause side effects and allergic reactions. With tolsilitis it is highly recommended that you get to the doctor and have it really checked out, hopefully the doctor can help releave some of the symptoms while you are healing or can give you some antibiotics (if you are lucky).
