How to tell the family

I have been a wiccan for a few years and I think it's time to tell my family. It's a bit difficult with them since my whole family is either Roman Catholic or Christian. How should I tell them without causing to much anger

In best terms, it's best to not even tell them at all in the case you could get negative reactions which might result in verbal, physical and mental abuse. But if you still want to, go for it.

Well, to be perfectly honest about that situation (I have the same one going on presently), you are going to get the angry faces, words, and other expressions that you are wanting to avoid. Coming out of the broom closet, so to speak, is one of the most freeing things in the world, but it's also one of the most traumatizing. I don't know your family, so I can only tell you so much. That being said, meditate, and/or pray, and/or think on what you are wanting to do. Make sure you find a good time to do these things in. Figure out who you want to tell first or tell everyone at once. For some people, not telling at all is the best option just to keep the peace in your family. If nothing else, make a plan and embrace who you are. Don't let their words turn you away from what you believe. Good luck to you and blessed be.

yea I get the angry faces and words about any different religion with my sister and most of my family and they don't even know I'm wiccan. I feel like if I don't tell them I'll just be more stressed about the situation.

Most religions produce hate. The ironic thing is most Christians are becoming what they fear. If you want to keep the relationship between your family stable, I suggest you keep it a secret.

I remember when I made the decision to stop accompanying my family to Catholic Mass. Since I was a child I had always been fascinated with Pagan studies which I was very open about - for years! and I dealt with arguing (a LOT of negativity) mostly from my parents.

As the years went on I confirmed what I might have known as a child - that I was finding my faith in pagan practices- My eclectic spiritual journey was mine to discover and I wouldn't be persuaded otherwise because it is what speaks the most profoundly to me.

My family still doesn't understand and I've long since excused myself from explaining. I still get asked to go to church and politely decline explaining that the Earth is my place of worship.

Telling your family, as someone else noted, can be both freeing, frustrating, and traumatizing all at once. Get your education down - if there are questions (and there will be) make sure you can answer everything unbiased and correctly. Then prepare if they aren't accepting because they may not be.

At the end of the day, it is YOUR faith. You have freedom to believe what you want- something I had to explain to my family. No one can take away your faith.

Wishing you strength,

~V

don't be surprized if they dont accept it. I told my family and was basically disowned. My mom than proceeded to question me if I was into the devil or satanism, of course the answer was no. They simply were taught a certain way thru their lives and do not understand. I am also baptised and a catholic, what many laymen do not understand is that the psalms are used in candle magic, and the catholic church has their saints novena prayer candles, which is a type of prayer candle magic , you invoke the saint to help you with your need or concern for a loved one. I hope you seriously consider their lack of knowledge on these matters before you announce it to them.
