a dictionary can be quite helpful at times, especially in understanding a foreign word or phrase....self possession is simply self control, why...because maturity.

you still do not understand.... self possession is confidence, it is having control over how you express yourself. A small child will have a temper tantrum when they get angry, a mature person who is self possessed will not express their anger in such a way.
