My friend and i are new to magic and we are a little confused about wands. Some spells require wands how do you use them? We read about making wands, how do you make them? Do home-made wands need to be charmed or will they just work?
A wand is really just any stick. The purpose of which is to collect and focus magical energy. think of it like this.... you have a pool of water and you take a stick and swirl the water around, you get a little whirlpool effect.
The same is true for wands, the wand makes a whirlpool effect in the magical energy around you, focusng on the object you are casting magic on. That is why you wave the wand over things.
the best (stick) u can use is from a tree like ash but ask the tree for permision befor u do stand next to the tree of your choosing and place ur hands on it then ask the tree to let you take ur (stick)leave somthing behind as a thankyou is always nice like berrys or bread for the birds
Just remember that the more you put into the creation of a magical tool the more powerful and personel it becomes. I have personely found that certain wands work best with certain spells, seasons, and times.
Wands can be made from wood :
Ash, Bacote, Canarywood, Cocobolo, Lignum Vitae, Maple, Oak, Rosewood, Tulipwood, Walnut, Willow, or Apple.
Wands can be made from metal :
Copper, and Silver.
And can be made from :
Clay, and crystal.
But these are all debateable according to your preferenc in the craft. This is information I have discovered through years of study and trail and error.
