what are dreams?

This is a open ended question that you can feel free to answer how ever you want.

In my opinion dreams are things caused by your subconscious mind and can be influenced by a verity of different things. Its unknown, to me, that dreams can influence your future like premonition dreams. one thing I like though that apparently I have a rare ability where I can control my dreams. Though mostly I can dream a continuous dream (example I dreamt the same dream 2 nights in a row before)or I dream of odd stuff. Some times I dream up a story that I have to write down. Sometimes I see in my dreams something that eventually happens (like my psychotic mom throwing a fit and me getting hurt ended up happening in real life and her dying which also happened years later).

Please feel free to answer the question anyway you want. No one is judging. this is simply to express your thoughts.

From the physical perspective, a dream is a series of chemicals and brain cell interactions during what we call the REM (Rapid Eye Movement) stage of the common human's 'sleep' process.

From the meta-physical expression, it is a conscious expression of the subconscious - a more experiential and visual expression.

(The majority of definitions say that a 'dream' is an involuntary experience, I couldn't disagree more. The subconscious is choosing for you to dream because it wants to and is capable of doing so, not because it cannot.)

What exactly a dream is is still being studied in universities and science laboratories across the world. This is a very amazing question :)
