It is the 20th everyone. If you look up "Ostara 2013" on Google, the first thing to pop up should be "Wednesday, March 20." =)

I am doing a basic ritual specifically for Ostara and welcoming Spring... And since it is my first Ostara I am adding celtic music and I am going to dance the Celtic/ Gaelic way :D.

Cleaning cleaning cleaning cleaning... the weather is still too unpredictable in my area to start planting without accidentally killing off my seeds before they have a chance to germinate, so I like to use Ostara to clean out the clutter and gunk and crap of winter and whatever is bogging me down, and have a fresh slate. Lots of baking and decorating for spring time gets done too, and I share them with friends. If I've got time, I'll make them little spring good luck gifts. I also take down all my old wardings and set out completely new and fresh ones. When the weather has been nice and I've been with friends, we go camping and have a Welcome Spring party, or we just go out to the woods for some energy raising and appreciating the warmer nights...if March isn't being too much of a lion...

I will be doing a ritual with couple coven members for Ostara this year. I am excited for this year, the weather changing bringing showers and flowers. I like to bless my seeds/garden areas during this ritual, it is a great time of year and I am ready for that.

Is it OK to celebrate Ostara afterward it's day (2 days after)?

Absolutely!

While it is always nice to celebrate on the actual day of the Sabbat we all have real lives and other obligations that sometimes make that impossible. When I was running a large, real-life, teaching coven we always held our Esbats and Sabbats on the Saturday closest to the event since everyone had jobs and Saturday nights were the only time that worked best for the most of us. So celebrate when you can and know that the Gods understand.

Many old world festivals, holidays, and sabbatsdid not just last one day but were held for several days or longer. Often centering around one main day, there would be gatherings and activities leading up to the main events and celebrations as well as a winding down period as decorations came down and the wheel kept turning.Modern times have manifested into what works best for you. Some celebrate alone and togetherover multiple platforms, through zoom and fire side sometimes combining both as we learn to use the technology during these interesting times. I often celebrate alone during the exact moment for the astrological time of the celebration. Amoment of silence, focused thought, and intention often occur. For the group activities I have taken part of these all around the day that we are celebrating. Some traditions also use a lunar event to celebrate or gather. Such as Mayday and Samhaingatherings occurring during the closest new moon to these sabbats. There are all different approaches to how one celebrates and no one way is correct.

Many Spring/Autum Blessings to you,

Katie
